They look incredible now.ĭefinitely open up the gun between coats to make sure your gun isn't getting clogged up, examine the sprayer and clear any debris, check the air holes, etc. I side dipped a metal watering can and the old nasty hubcaps. Have something else besides your car that you are applying dip to as you go so that you can get a feel for the process on something that is not your car and try ripping tape off of etc. Pay attention to the parts about wet-peel sections because it will make your life 1000 times easier, go slowly and have a little exacto knife handy as you are unpeeling in case you need to break any dip that is peeling up with your tape. Peeling the tape OFF is ironically just as important as how you put the tape down. have a friend hold it across the windshield and just gently pull to stretch the yellow tape across as you press it down.

The hardest piece was definitely across the top of the windshield. try your best for long clean lines of the yellow automotive tape on the edges so that your wet peel is a clean removal. i spent a whole day taping and I am glad i did. Taping the edges of your masking cleanly is the best possible thing you can do. I probably wiped the whole thing down with rubbing alcahol and the pre-dip wash about 3 or 4 times after taking it to the car wash,

don't use any weird rinse coatings or wax when you do because you need the car to be free of any waxes and films before you dip. Take your car to the car wash and wash the shit out of it at least 24 hours before you start with the pre-dip wash. We watched how-to videos between coats as well. Watch all the instructional videos you can, the first person perspective one, and all the stuff you can find about masking and un-masking. Having a friend around to help was super useful. Here's some tips since they are fresh in my mind:ĭ has some kits that are specified as beginner level, with the easiest colors.

I dipped a full car for the first time today (although i was doing it with a friend who had done it once before) and there's a few little mistakes here and there but I'm *so* happy i did it. So I'm hoping that I can just start spraying over my existing paint with no primer needed? Do I need to use primer? I'm really hoping not because I want to do a good job of course but I've spent so much time already on my truck paint and I want to get this done asap. Do I need to mix anything up when I get my 4 gallons in? Or is it like just pour the paint from the gallon cans into the paint gun sprayer and don't have to mix anything? Also primer. Do you know if they are harder to spray? And also I don't know shit about paint sprayers and having to mix different chemicals like paint thinner with paint color. I really want to use a color shift dip paint because they looks so cool. I'm about to order a few gallons of paint but having a hard tim3 deciding which color. I actually just ordered a spray gun on Amazon that's supposed to be good for thick paint like plasti dip, it was around 60 because I don't want to pay close to 200 for the actual spray gun DYC has in its website. Thanks for the suggestions! I've been watching a lot of YT videos on it. Suggestions and tips would be appreciated!! Tired of being embarrassed by all the shit I fucked up on. I can work with that amount but idk if I should be going down that road? I really want my paint fixed. I'm really thinking about ordering a few gallons and a plasti dip spray gun for around $500 total. So my last attempt is to plasti dip my entire truck.

I've looked around at some other paint shops and I just don't have the money to spend on it.

I've tried going to maaco but they keep quoting me 1200+ for a new paint job(won't go any lower, I've tried). All blotchy now and I'm fucking tired of trying to fix this shit. Entire doors(driver side only) and like a dumb ass I thought the hood would be easier to paint so i took it off and. Been trying to correct it for the past 8 or so months and it's getting worse because it's no longer just the upper door where the sun damaged the paint it's now both doors are completely fucked up. Then I used 2k clear and that got fucked up. Wasn't nothing major but I really wanted to improve it(never painted a car before) so I got some rattle cans and.

But when I bought it It had some paint damage from the sun along the door handles on both the driver and driver side back door.
