I am very happy to see that you appreciated our distinct Zen style, which is a fusion of minimalist design and all of the modern comforts and amenities that you would expect in a luxury hotel. Here's to satori.ĭear Owen G, Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments. I suppose you could say this should be expected at an high end boutique hotel, but such welcome is always appreciated (I took an apple instead). I had arrived late with no reservation, but the desk received me graciously and magnanimously - offering me cookies after checking in.

And, if you are up for a real zen experience - and it is a Sunday morning - zip up to Marin to Green Gulch's public program for meditation instruction, talk, tea and lunch. Near Stanford University campus, a fantastic Whole Foods (where they make liquid nitrogen made ice cream), and just across the street is a Tesla showroom where you can investigate the inner zen-like simplicity of a Tesla chassis. You can just feel the ivy-league and tech atmosphere.

Pleasant breakfast room in the morning with amenities like fresh made fruit smoothies. Bath robes, special soaps, and really nice and comfy mattress etc.I slept very well. Rooms had a nice, tidy proportion to them with all the luxury you might expect from upper end boutique. Although my travel plans don't include Palo Alto in the near future, I will always remember the two great stays we had there. While not exactly a zendo for meditation (there is a real one nearby in the Los Altos hills), the style of this hotel mimics the design elements of a traditional Japanese temple for meditation - simplicity and order. The next morning when I reported to breakfast, I found a whole bunch of Equal packets next to the Splenda packets. It was the smallest comment made in passing. I explained that a tiny request would be to have Equal or Sweet & Low available during breakfast since some people (including me) have a bad reaction to Splenda (the sweetener they routinely had). Example: I was chatting with Ricardo about our stay, and he asked if there was anything that could be better. However, I must say that Ricardo (the manager) and his staff are what makes this place even more wonderful. I love having a coffee maker in the room and breakfast every morning is just marvelous. All the little touches make this place great. I reiterate all my previous remarks - basically what we have here is a top notch hotel at a much more reasonable price. We requested the same room and they were able to accommodate us. When visiting Stanford University, my son and I stayed here again for a week. Sincerely, Ricardo Berrospi General Manager THE ZEN HOTEL 65 was our second stay in two years. Your comments will greatly assist us to continue working on finding new ways of offering additional value to all our guests.

I fully understand your concerns, and I wanted to provide you with a brief insight to our price transparency policy.

We find that even at our highest price point (ie: last minute reservation for a 1-night stay on a weekday), we end up still being within a range of 20 to 40 percent more economical than our competitors which don’t have a full breakfast buffet as part of what is included in their rate. When we make reservations, we quote our lowest possible price and apply all available discounts without waiting to be asked. We deliberately set our rates so our available discounts within our dynamic pricing are open as long as possible, in addition to accommodating one-night stays when a growing number of hotels in our vicinity require a minimum of two-night stays on busy weekdays. Please allow me to elaborate on a few details about our pricing, which we have a policy of making very transparent. I am very sorry to learn that your stay at The Zen Hotel was not to your satisfaction. Dear A J S, Thank you for sharing your feedback.
